Cultivating Cittaprasādanam

Senior Guest Teacher Workshop
Saturday, October 25
8:00am - 10:30am

Join Yoga Cville and Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher Level 3 Mary Reilly, who is visiting Charlottesville from North Woods Yoga in Michigan, for a workshop titled "Cultivating Cittaprasādanam," which means a graceful and benevolent consciousness, through asana and pranayama.

As with all cultivation, seeds are planted and nurtured. Together, we will explore applying the wisdom responses to common triggers shared in Sutra 1:33, both personally and in our relationship with the world.

In Sutra 1:33, Patanjali outlines four essential attitudes needed in relationships to achieve a clear and peaceful mind. They are: maitri (friendliness) toward those who are happy, karuna (compassion) toward those who suffer, mudita (joy) toward the virtuous, and upakṣaṇam (impartiality) toward wrongdoers.

Nothing feels more inviting than a tranquil, clear mind. You will leave feeling refreshed and inspired.

Pre-requisite: It is recommended that students have at least one year of consistent asana practice.
